Abstract: This paper tries to reconsider, why the traditional meaning of the biblical antiphon “The Lord is my strength and (my) song and he has become my salvation!” (Exo 15:2; Isa 12:2; Psa 118:14) has been refused by a great number of biblical scholars. However, the reasons for preferring another suggested translation – “The Lord is my strength and (my) protection…” – are found as not sufficient and so not convincing.
