Studia Biblica Slovaca (StBiSl) is a peer-reviewed biannual scholarly journal (ISSN 1338-0141; e-ISSN 2644-4879) focused on the philological, historical, exegetical, and theological study of both the Old and New Testaments.

The journal’s main objective is to publish scholarly research responding to advances in biblical studies and to present new insights that go beyond the scope of textbooks, monographs, or commentaries.

Published studies must meet scholarly criteria by engaging in academic discourse and offering new insights and innovative approaches.

Contributions from the fields of exegesis, theology, philology, biblical archaeology, and historiography are given priority. Interdisciplinary studies are also accepted (e.g. biblical studies and Judaism, patristics, liturgy, moral theology).

The journal also includes a section of book reviews. Interested authors may send publications for review directly to the editorial office (redakcia@biblica.sk).

The journal is published twice a year.

The deadlines for manuscript submission are:

31 March for the spring issue,
30 September for the autumn issue.

Only contributions that have not been previously published or simultaneously submitted for review to another journal are accepted.

Contributions may be written in Slovak, Czech, or English.

Slovak and Czech authors may publish in English only if they are demonstrably affiliated with an institution abroad.

Exceptions (e.g. German or Italian) may be granted by the Editorial Board on the basis of individual assessment.

All contributions must comply with the formal requirements of the BCŠ style (Bibliographic and Citation Style of Studia Biblica Slovaca).

Each manuscript undergoes a two-stage anonymous peer-review process and is evaluated by two independent expert reviewers. The results of the review process are communicated to the authors by the Editor-in-Chief.

The editorial team consists of:

  • the Editor-in-Chief,
  • the Deputy Editor-in-Chief,
  • the Review Editor,
  • the Managing Editor,
  • members of the Editorial Board and the Scientific Council.

The Editorial Board meets twice a year. Meetings are convened by the Editor-in-Chief.
