Abstract: The article contains a though analysis of the translation technique used in the Slovak translation of Psalms 50(51)–74(75) according to the Septuagint. It points out its many shortcomings which must be cleared up in the future. Concordance in lexis is not always observed. Cases of semantically incorrect translation occur. Neither in grammar is a stable equivalence preserved. It is often caused by a grammatically incorrect interpretation and/or ignorance of expressive potential of the receiving language. Parallel publication of translations of the Greek and Hebrew text loses its point, because both the agreement and differences between them are obliterated. In parallel identical places synonyms appear. Elsewhere the Greek text is adapted to resemble its Hebrew parallel.
