Abstract: Psalm 37 presents a response to the situation of person who is full of negative attitudes towards the faithless people because of their prosperity. The psalmist gives his/her addressee specific moral guidelines how to live and behave in such situation. The advices contain a number of promises that have to encourage the addressee to make right choice in life and stay loyal to the principles of faithfulness that have been formulated in Ps 1, text deeply connected with Ps 37. The promise of land’s ownership for the faithful people is mentioned in this context several times (vv. 9.11.22.29.34). The aim of this paper is to answer the question what land concept forms the background of the promise. In the first part of the paper the basic characteristic of Ps 37 is given. The second part includes the analysis of the verses that contain terms connected with land or references to the land theme. The third part of the paper presents the concept of land in Ps 37 and gives the characteristic of the motif of land’s ownership in the text.
