Literary Efficiency of Luke's Gospel for the Integral Vision of Man

Jozef JANČOVIČ, Dagmar KRÁĽOVÁ

volume 4, issue 1, 2012, pages 20-34
DOI: https://doi.org/10.64438/sbsHIRL9382

A close reading and study of the Gospel according to Luke and specially a focus on Lukan proper material (Sondergut) in terms of recent psychological approach made more evident Lukan emphasis on the knowledge of human beeing and on the emotions that reflect psychological activities inside. Surprisingly, Luke´s Gospel is noteworthy by the concentration of expressions from three semantic fields of basic psychological processes (cognitive, emotive, conative). All these facts strengthen an integral view on human beeing both in some of Old Testanment texts and in the Helenistic culture. The perfect integrity of Jesus personality in the Luke Gospel is made evident on the one hand by his harmonious interactivity of given processes with the dominant emotion of compassion and on the other hand by his integral approach towards people and listeners.
