Abstract: The article deals with basic issues of the Book of Exodus and presents some open questions. The first problem considered is the fact of different manuscript traditions, of which each one has its value. Regarding the composition of the Book there are still more unfinished discussions about the sources or about the relationship between the Book of Genesis and Exodus. The third sphere of the consideration is concerned with theological issues such as the induration of the heart or the laws of Israel. The last discussed issue is the structure of the Book that should maintain its focus on the topic of the Lord’ sovereignty and the transition of the people of Israel from slavery to the service of God.
