Theological Message of Jesus’ Farewell Speech in John 13–17 in the Light of the Analysis of its Literary Genre

Abstract: The purpose of the paper is to analyze the literary genre of the text Jn 13– 17. The author firstly presents a description of the literary genre Farewell speech from the genological and literary-historical point of view and then he analyzes by the means of literary comparison the way of application of the particular literary motifs of the genre in the text Jn 13– 17. In this way the author tries to uncover the theological specific characters of the Jesus’ Farewell speech in the Fourth Gospel.
