The history of exegesis offers us a variety of perspectives, starting from a biography up to the novelistic writing or even a liturgical performance. The proposed paper briefly sketches the possible solutions given by scholars and further focuses on the biographical character of the Gospels, listing the correspondence between the Hellenistic, Biblical, Non-biblical writings and the Gospels. A special attention is given to the motif of imitatio Christi.
