1. Basic Information for Manuscript Submission<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
  1. Contributions to StBiSl<\/em>, including appendices, are submitted exclusively in electronic format (.doc, .docx) or as documents converted into the appropriate format if an operating system other than Microsoft OS is used (e.g. Macintosh, Linux). Contributions are sent directly to the Editor-in-Chief of StBiSl<\/em> or to the editorial office at redakcia(at)biblica.sk. Before submission, the document must be prepared in such a way as to ensure the anonymity of the author; that is, all parts that could in any way identify the author of the contribution must be removed from the document.<\/li>
  2. By submitting a contribution and, if the contribution is recommended for publication, the author expresses consent to its publication in StBiSl<\/em>. This act replaces a license agreement concerning the publication of the work and the authenticity of the contribution.<\/li>
  3. Requests for reviews, together with publications intended for review, should be addressed to the Review Editor or to the editorial office at redakcia@biblica.sk.<\/li><\/ol>

    a) Formal aspects of the contribution<\/h3>

    Recommended length (including spaces and footnotes):<\/strong><\/p>

    a. study: min. 20,000 characters, max. 70,000 characters (shorter studies are preferred),
    b. short scholarly note: min. 10,000 characters, max. 20,000 characters,
    c. review: min. 7,000 characters, max. 20,000 characters.<\/p>

    Page format \u2013 A4.
    Font type: Times New Roman, normal, size 12.<\/p>

    a. For languages that do not use the Latin alphabet, such as Hebrew and Greek, a Unicode font must be used.
    b. Greek text is to be given with accents and breathings; Hebrew or Aramaic text, where possible, without Masoretic vocalization, except where its use is required for emphasis.
    c. In the case of using other languages and scripts (Akkadian, Coptic, Syriac, etc.), it is advisable to inform the editorial office in advance.
    d. The transliteration or transcription of Hebrew and Greek words follows the rules set out in: \u0160trba, Bla\u017eej: Bibliografia biblick\u00fdch vied slovenskej a \u010deskej proveniencie (1989\u20132013). Bibliography of Biblical Sciences of Slovak and Czech Provenance (1989\u20132013)<\/em> (StBiSlSup), Bad\u00edn: Vlastn\u00fdm n\u00e1kladom, 2014, pp. 300\u2013305.<\/p>

    For emphasis, only italics may be used; bold type is not permitted.<\/p>

    Line spacing \u2013 single.
    For headings, a predefined basic style may be used, or they may be manually numbered (see more in the section Formal Structure of the Contribution<\/em>).<\/p>

    The text of the contribution should not be line-broken or specially formatted. The use of tabs to indent the first lines of paragraphs is not recommended, except where a predefined basic style is used.<\/p>

    In the case of foreign-language texts, precise orthography and grammar of the given language must be respected.<\/p>

    These rules apply to the formal layout of studies, short scholarly notes, reviews, reports, and announcements.<\/p>

    b) Formal layout of citations and references<\/h3>

    For reasons of clarity and simplicity, it is recommended to reduce biblical citations in the original languages within the text to their essential parts.<\/p>

    Abbreviations of biblical books must follow the List of Abbreviations of Biblical Books<\/em> published in the List of Abbreviations of StBiSl<\/em>, omitting the space between the numeral and the book abbreviation, e.g. 1Kr, 2Sol, etc.<\/p>

    When indicating a range of chapters, an en dash (\u2013) without spaces before or after is used, e.g. Ex 3,1\u20134,18. When indicating a range of verses within one chapter, a hyphen (-) is used, e.g. vv. 5-6
    [1].<\/p>

    An en dash with spaces before and after is used only when indicating a range of years, e.g. 58 \u2013 56 BC, or when separating the names of multiple authors of one publication in the List of References or in a footnote.<\/p>

    In the text, quotation marks of the first and second level are distinguished as follows:
    1st level: \u201c \u201d; 2nd level: \u00ab \u00bb.
    Example:
    \u201e(\u2026) We accept them, examine and proclaim \u00abtheir figures and qualities\u00bb and choose from their deeds everything that is noble and worthy of knowledge\u2026\u201c

    In the text of the contribution, the footnote number is placed before the punctuation mark. Exceptions are direct quotations of entire sentences or longer passages (more than three lines), in which case the footnote number is placed after the entire quotation in the text, i.e. after the closing quotation marks. Example from the contribution by F. Giuntoli
    [3], where the last superscript number (13) is the footnote number in the author\u2019s article:<\/p>

    \u201c(\u2026) They shall be for the Israelites a reminder before the Lord, an atonement (\u05db\u05e4\u05e8) for your lives.\u201d13<\/p>

    Footnotes are numbered with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3\u2026) in superscript and are separated from the first character of the bibliographic reference by one space (1_Surname, Title, pages, note [if necessary]). When indicating cited page numbers in footnotes as well as in the final List of References, the abbreviation \u201cp.\u201d is not used; only page numbers are given.<\/p>

    a. Monograph: Surname, Title, page, note: Ska, Our Fathers<\/em>, 5, n. 6.
    b. Article: Surname, Title, page: E\u00dfer, Barmherzigkeit<\/em>, 5.<\/p>

    In all footnotes, including the very first one, only a shortened bibliographic reference is given, even when repeated. Abbreviations such as Ibid.<\/em>, Idem<\/em>, or Id.<\/em> are not used.<\/p>

    In bibliographic references in footnotes as well as in the final List of References, authors\u2019 surnames are written in small capitals, not in FULL CAPITAL LETTERS.<\/p>

    A complete bibliographic reference is given only in the final List of References.<\/p>

    The List of References is arranged alphabetically according to authors\u2019 surnames (A\u2013Z). If several works by the same author are listed, they are arranged chronologically by year of publication from the oldest to the most recent.<\/p>

    Authors\u2019 first names are given \u2013 where possible \u2013 in full form, e.g. Zenger, Erich (instead of Zenger, E.). If an author has more than one first name, at least one should be given in full, while the others may be abbreviated to the initial followed by a period.<\/p>

    c) Formal structure of the contribution<\/h3>

    Each contribution to StBiSl<\/em> must have a title reflecting its content. The title may be supplemented by a clarifying subtitle. The editorial board reserves the right to modify the title of the contribution as well as to make necessary linguistic and\/or stylistic adjustments to it.<\/p>

    From a formal point of view, the contribution begins with an introduction, which does not need to be labeled. It must, however, end with a conclusion, which is labeled. The text of the contribution is divided into chapters and subchapters. Their numbering is recommended (up to the second sublevel at most, e.g. 1.1.1), but not mandatory. If numbering is used, individual (sub)chapters are designated by Arabic numerals. The introduction (if included) and the conclusion are not numbered. Example:<\/p>

    2. Mandatory Components of the Manuscript<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    1. A contribution to StBiSl<\/em> of the type study<\/strong>, short scholarly note<\/strong>, or reflection<\/strong> must additionally include:<\/p>

      1. the title of the contribution (with an optional subtitle) in Slovak\/Czech and in English,<\/p><\/li>

      2. five keywords in Slovak\/Czech and in English,<\/p><\/li>

      3. an abstract with a maximum length of 1,100 characters (including spaces) in Slovak\/Czech and in English,<\/p><\/li>

      4. a list of references prepared in accordance with the guidelines in \u00a7 C.1.b.9\u201311, and<\/p><\/li>

      5. the author\u2019s contact details (first name and surname [optionally the name of the institution where the author is affiliated], the author\u2019s correspondence address or that of the employing institution, and the author\u2019s email contact).<\/p><\/li><\/ol>

        In the case of a review manuscript, instead of a title the following information is provided: the surname and first name of the author of the reviewed book, the title and subtitle of the reviewed book, place of publication, publisher, year of publication, number of pages, and ISBN.<\/p><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

        Image appendices should be submitted separately in .jpg, .jpeg, or .bmp format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. All images must be properly labeled and identified. The placement of image appendices within the text must be specified by means of a description provided in a separate document attached to the contribution.<\/p>

        Tables, diagrams, and, where applicable, graphs may be included directly in the text of the contribution, or the author may submit them separately in MS Excel format (.xls or .xlsx).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
